Friday, March 13, 2009 6:30Getting up and then beginning the day with a cup of coffee and not eating anything till lunch, is a common theme with many. However this is sad, since they are skipping the most essential meal of the day – breakfast.
The importance of breakfast: One reason why people don’t see any changes in their physique is not eating breakfast. You require calories right from the moment you wake up. Here are some of the most important benefits of eating a healthy breakfast.
Preserves Muscle. Your body is in a catabolic state during sleep. A big breakfast can prevent destruction of muscle.
Increase Metabolism. Consuming breakfast raises the number of calories burnt, promoting fat & weight loss.
Prevents Hunger. You are less likely to be hungry remaining day. Is effective if you are on fat/weight loss stage.
Improves Health. The food available outside is processed, and hence generally unhealthy.
Saves Money. Making breakfast is more economical than purchasing breakfast outside.
If you are not used to eating breakfast, use these tips to develop the habit of eating breakfast.
1. Increase its taste. The simplest way to inculcate the habit of eating breakfast is to eat the foods of your choice. Choose low carb if you become drowsy ater eating breakfast.
2. Begin Small. If you can eat breakfast forcibly, go ahead. But remember the key to developing the habit is slow and steady. Begin with a small breakfast of 2 eggs instead of 6 and then keep on increasing the quantity every 15 days.
3. Eat smallest meal before sleeping. Large meals before sleeping will disturb your sleep and reduce your hunger on getting up. Don’t snack in the mid-night & eat light before going to bed.
4. Plan. Keep your breakfast foods ready before sleeping. Alter your lifestyle so that you never forego breakfast. Reduce the making time in the morning.
Groceries. Purchase the items required for 7 or 14 days breakfast. Don’t forego breakfast just because your fridge has nothing.
Get up Earlier. At least 15mins earlier so that you can eat breakfast & save morning rush. Sleep earlier so that you can get up earlier.
Prepare in advance. Breakfast, things for work/school, clothes, etc. Get everything ready the night before, to let you sleep longer.
5. Persevere. Eating breakfast everyday is the most effective way of eating breakfast. Determine you want to develop this habit and that you’ll do it daily no matter whatever happens.
If you are nauseated, drink water, have a shower and then repeat. If you are still not hungry, take breakfast with you while going to work/school. Healthy eating and sleeping on time will eliminate continual nausea.
