How to Build Big Biceps
Thursday, January 8, 2009 9:07Men in general go ga-ga over huge biceps. Bodybuilders as well as recreational exercisers spend a lot of time training their biceps, and their reasons are valid. They are one of the body parts that are easily visible, unlike other muscles like abs and pecs which can be hidden under the shirt. So how does one get big biceps? Well here are some tips to make your biceps grow bigger quickly.
- Compound exercises: These are the exercises that use multiple joints simultaneously. This allows the exercises to use heavy weights, thereby simulating plenty of muscle fibers. Both these factor result in bigger arms. Some of the best exercises for big biceps are pull-up and chin-up variation, since they put a lot of stress on the biceps.
- Put on more muscle: It is difficult to get 20″ arms if your weight is just 150 pounds. Your body always tries to retain its balance, so despite spending a long time training your arms, they will not grow unless you start training the remaining parts of the body too. Few trainers maintain that in order to put even an inch on the arms, you have to put on 15-20 pounds of muscle. So it is important for you to use a training program that exercises each muscle in your body as well as proper nutrition and supplement plan too.
- Lose fat: While huge arms are nice, if there is a layer of fat covering the muscle, they will not look big and defined. Big and defined arms can be achieved only by reducing your body fat levels. Body fat can be reduced by following a healthy diet, so always ensure that while you are eating sufficient calories for weight gain, you are not gaining a lot of fat in the process.
Arm muscles are just like other muscles in your body. So there is no need to do plenty of curls everyday in order to see their growth. Muscle growth occurs when you are resting. So always ensure you train intensely and then take sufficient rest, eat a lot and get sufficient sleep. Besides also exercise your triceps too. Though not the show muscles as biceps, they comprise about 2/3 of your upper arm mass. Hence ignoring them is not advisable if you are looking for big arms.
And don’t forget to work as well. While not the show muscles that the biceps are, they do make up roughly so neglecting them is not a good strategy if big arms are what you’re after.
